As a Christmas present my sister got me baking lessons with a local cake shop. Today I learned how to make chocolate covered petit fours which are essentially tiny individual cakes. They’re so simple and beautiful. I’m so stoked to have this added to my baking repertoire :3

There’s this breakfast joint that serves these amazing Dutch Babies that my boyfriend and i absolutely love. We don’t get to go there all that often with our busy schedules and small paychecks so I decided to try my hand at making it myself. It turned out pretty well if I say so myself.

My Grandma’s birthday was a few week ago and I made her a few desserts. Since it was a luau themed party I decided to keep the cakes festive. I went with a classic pineapple upside down cake and the main cake was a coconut cake with some cool whipped cream and chocolate ganache topped with toasted coconut

Last week I got a call from The Boyfriend’s younger sister who needed help making a cake for a friend’s birthday.

When she said she wanted to do a BMW I was already running through ideas of how and what we would need we would make a car out of cake. turns out we were exceedingly short on time and she had a much easier plan in mind.

About 2 hours later we had two layered white cake with chocolate, vanilla and cotton candy frosting. That’s right, the blue is cotton candy flavored.

Today is Pie (not Pi) day, but I don’t have pie ingredients handy so making a traditional pie was out of the question. That and I’m too lazy to get off my butt and run to the store.
So I ransacked my pantry and found the following “yeah I could make a quick little something out of this” ingredients: graham crackers, coconut, chocolate chips, and peanut butter.
A graham cracker crust was a obvious choice, though I only had a minuscule amount of crumbs, so instead of making a large pie, I went with teeny ones.
From there on it was kind of a throw in all in the pan and then in the oven kind of thing, but it all panned out *ba-dum-tiss*
So they’re more like little homemade peanut butter cups sandwiched between graham crackers and coconut, which is a combo of some of my favorite ingredients so it gets a big gold star.
Also, start to finish time: 10 minutes. Which makes it even better

meant to post this on my Cake Crusader page, but my iphone decided otherwise. someday i will master you technology. until then, reblog.

Remember how I said I’d post things? Whoops.

Got caught up in all the holidays and have left little time for posting. Did you miss me? Yes? No? Maybe?

Anyway back to your semi regularly scheduled postings

havent posted anything in a while due to finals (icky icky) but Christmas time is near which means cookie swap!

stay tuned <3

You should follow me, you know you want to

Also when I’m not baking, I like to read, write, watch movies/tv and update my personal tumblr.

That’s where you’ll find postings that aren’t baking related, (well there might be baking things on there, but they’re things that I haven made) along with other nerdy and other random things.

(This is just a part of me trying to keep my baking and personal postings separate. We’ll be back to baking after these few messages)
